CLO:
I will be able to create a vector image in .PDF or JPEG file by experimenting and choosing correct trace, expand, shape, pen, gradient & fill tools tools of Illustrator to add color. WHAT ARE YOU LEARNING? I will be able to add color using trace, expand, shape, gradient & fill tools tools of Illustrator. HOW WILL I KNOW YOU GET IT? By creating a colored vector image using the design cycle to brainstorm, trace, color and talk about their tool & color decisions with peers. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? Unlike JPEGs, GIFs, and BMP images, vector graphics are not made up of a grid of pixels. Instead, vector graphics are comprised of paths, which are defined by a start and end point, along with other points, curves, and angles along the way. A path can be a line, a square, a triangle, or a curvy shape. These paths can be used to create simple drawings or complex diagrams and blown up to any size. Because vector-based images are not made up of a specific number of dots, they can be scaled to a larger size and not lose any image quality. If you blow up a raster graphic, it will look blocky, or "pixelated." When you blow up a vector graphic, the edges of each object within the graphic stay smooth and clean. This makes vector graphics ideal for logos, which can be small enough to appear on a business card, but can also be scaled to fill a billboard. REQUIREMENTS: Size: 8.5x11 Medium: Adobe Illustrator CS6 Image trace size: Must be 1000x1000 DPI or More & back/white image to trace. NO GRAY TONES or light lines will trace. Only high resolution images will trace or drawings outlined in Sharpie. VOCABULARY: Show me how to use: black arrow, white arrow, ungroup, trace, expand, shape, pen, gradient, swatches, color picker, stroke & fill tools tools. Difference between vector & raster images. Difference between Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator Positive & Negative shapes (inside & outside trace lines) Start by watching video to learn how to convert and image to VECTOR using Photoshop.
