Federal & The FuriousCLO: Students will use the design cycle & apply their graphic design layout skills and photoshop techniques to create original designs for Iconography banners. This project will demonstrate print shop collaboration & communication skills to get the job done well and within a deadline, using a theme. Theme:
Federal & The Furious Create artwork that represents your neighborhood or areas you hang out in around Federal Blvd & Lincoln. Focus on unique things that highlight your neighborhood businesses, beliefs, culture, music, food & pastimes. Use any medium to create artwork & graphic design concepts around the theme. Use symbolism or Icons specific to you. We are creating a banner that represent Mexican Papel Picados during Cinco de Mayo. Must Haves: 2 panels (each 13x18 vinyl banner material) 2 concepts different from your classmates Iconography or symbolism of your theme. (used mixed media) Paint it, use photos, graphic design, logos, vinyl, cut outs. Deadline: Friday May 4th! Your artwork needs to be scanned & printed on banner material using the Roland. Use templet from Google classroom. This video is of a class of UCLA students coming together to create a mural in their neighborhood. It is similar to the idea that our class came up with for the student showcase. I hope you get inspired by this video & push your ideas and visions further. I think we can represent our community in Denver in a clever way like these students did. More Inspiration & ideas of using symbolism...
ICONOGRAPHY
Carlos Frésquez he initially emerged in the late ’70s and early ’80s as part of the Chicano art movement that was already well established, his approach was distinctly different from that of almost all the other artists of the time. From early on, he embraced the iconographic, thematic and narrative standards of classic Chicano art while also absorbing and processing the influences of a range of non-Chicano sources, including international contemporary art as well as more historic movements, especially early European modernism. He graduated from Lincoln High School & is currently a painting professor at Metro University of Denver! We will be doing a show with him later in May! Field Trip soon to his CVA show!

ALHS Print SHop Need a Name & logo...CLO: Students will begin the process of creating a marketing/business plan for a new print shop at Lincoln using the design cycle. Students will first research names & logos for print shops, and then start to plan and sketch ideas for ALHS company name & logo. A business name is also the foundation of trademark design, which can be of significant value if you ever want to franchise or sell your business. Some people may think the business model is more important than the name, but a good business name certainly can't hurt your prospects. |
