WHAT ARE YOU LEARNING: I will be able to think independently and use the resources around me and apply what I have learned to a create a finished piece in a media which is new to me. I will be able to monitor my progress, evaluate my work, manage my time and create a resources so others may use it as a tutorial. HOW WILL I KNOW YOU GET IT? By creating a tracker to monitor my progress and document my steps, including links and photos. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? Artists are alway learning and trying new things. To become successful in life it is important to apply this thinking to everyday situations. By using the resources around me and creating a tutorial for someone else to use, I will apply traits of a creative young professional. REQUIREMENTS: Size: user determined Medium: user determined Tracker & Google drive folder VOCABULARY: independent learner, design cycle, various art vocab determined by user What is an independent learning? Independent learning does not mean learning on your own. It does mean you will make use of a range of resources including other people, through working collaboratively with others or seeking the help of an expert, as part of your learning. Independent Learning is important because it develops creativity and intellectual curiosity. Independent learning is about pupils being active rather than passive. Students are usually more motivated when they actively participate and teach one another by describing what they are doing. Independent study refers to the range of instructional methods which are purposefully provided to foster the development of individual student initiative, self-reliance, and self-improvement. Guiding feedback questions?
You are a reporter for Lincoln. What do Lincoln students care about or want to read about? You need to investigate a story you feel passionate about. No one should be doing the same story. Talk to each other. Pic a topic that interest you. If you are bored with it so will your readers. It may be about controversial issues or just fun stories, You can come up with your own idea but here are Some ideas to consider:
Make it interesting. It's a magazine for your class. You should be proud of your story and work. YES people are going to read it and see it. It can be a collection of mini stories, interviews, questions or one big essay. Include images that students care about. They must be yours or belong to a Lincoln student. NO PICS OFF THE INTERNET. Give credit if it is someones artwork and also get permission to use their photo in the story. DO THUMBNAILS FIRST! Plan your story and how it will look on the page. I will be collecting these! REQUIREMENTS:
DUE: DEC 19th, FINAL Day end of periodIf you have it done by the 17th and it is turned in on Google, you do not have to come in on the 19th. I am asking you to create a two page spread (article) about who you are as an artist and what you have learned this semester. InDesign was a program we learned last year. I included the tutorials below if you need a refresher. You do not have to do them but you may use them for reference. The video below explains it as well. You may use the cameras and take new pics as needed. Pretend it will appear in your favorite magazine. REQUIREMENTS:
The questions below are prompts created to encourage reflection on art making and artistic thought processes. They may help organize and express ideas, and can be used to inspire creation of an artist's statement. You should respond to at least 5-10 in your article.

CLO: I will apply the design cycle, rules of design & brand identity to create an original logo, label and ad for a new drink, and discuss the process with peers verbally in class and justify my decisions on Trello. I must include all details needed to sell product. WHAT ARE YOU LEARNING: I will be able to create a brand identity within specifications for a new product by using design principles and the steps of the design cycle. HOW WILL I KNOW YOU GET IT? By creating a logo using rules of design. I will use the design cycle to brainstorm, sketch at least 5 thumbnails, create and revise one idea, and justify my decisions with peers on Trello. I will revise my logo so it is versatile and then add color for labels. I will use the design cycle over and over until I come up with a winning concept and visual ad to sell the product. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? Artist follow a simple set of rules and size guidelines. In order for people to understand and communicate their ideas these rules need to be considered. Brand identify is important for a product to sell and be relevant. Without the right design, your business may fail. By assigning different visual characteristics to sections of information (size, color, contrast, repetition, alignment, proximity) a designer can influence what users will perceive as being more important. REQUIREMENTS: Size: See requirements below Medium: Adobe Illustrator CS6 & Adobe Photoshop CS6 VOCABULARY: Resolution, Vector vs. Rastor, Rules of logo design: Keep it simple, timeless, memorable, versatile & appropriate. Visual Hierarchy: size, color, contrast, repetition, alignment, proximity Sketch out your ideas first. Start with the logo! The most time will be spent here! (you should have about 5 sketches to start) Your goal is to create a drink bottle design that is as realistic as possible. You may want to look at actual soda bottle designs on the internet for inspiration. Craft beer bottles are usually very artistic. Open Adobe Illustrator, and create 3-4 new artboards. Name your project "yourname"_drinkdesign_1.ai 1- YOUR LOGO DESIGN: at least 2.5x2.5 Vector image. It can vary based on need. We will make stickers from this logo. It will also appear on your label.
