Look at artwork closely. Don't miss the details. How was it made? Can you recreate it using the tools of Adobe Illustrator; pathfinder, pen, fill, shape, stroke, anchor point tool etc. You should be able to if you did your tutorials. It is due at the end of class on FINALS day. Good luck!
Recreate the picture below using any and all the tools you know. It should look as close as possible to the original. Look for repeating shapes, simple shapes turned into new ones, shapes overlapping etc. REQUIEMENTS:

CLO: Students will participate in the creative process by using the appropriate technology, listening, reading or referencing tutorials to explore Adobe Illustrator's shape, pen & pathfinder tools. WHAT ARE YOU LEARNING? I will be able to draw using Adobe Illustrator's text, shape, stroke, fill, pen & pathfinder tools (weld & divide). HOW WILL I KNOW YOU GET IT? By creating a colored vector image using tutorials as reference. And then talk about their tool & color decisions with peers. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? Unlike JPEGs, GIFs, and BMP images, vector graphics are not made up of a grid of pixels. Instead, vector graphics are comprised of paths, which are defined by a start and end point, along with other points, curves, and angles along the way. A path can be a line, a square, a triangle, or a curvy shape. These paths can be used to create simple drawings or complex diagrams and blown up to any size. The pathfinder tool allows you to divide shapes apart and weld them together. The pen tool allows you to manipulate a point or draw a shape. REQUIREMENTS: Size: 8.5x11 Medium: Adobe Illustrator CS6 VOCABULARY: Show me how to use: text, shape, stroke, fill, pen & pathfinder tools Difference between vector & raster images. Pathfinder tool: weld, divide Align tools, gradient, pencil tool, anchor points, custom brushes Shortcuts: copy, cut, paste, etc
CLO: I will be able to create a vector image in .PDF or JPEG file by experimenting and choosing correct trace, expand, shape, pen, gradient & fill tools tools of Illustrator to add color. WHAT ARE YOU LEARNING? I will be able to add color using trace, expand, shape, gradient & fill tools tools of Illustrator. HOW WILL I KNOW YOU GET IT? By creating a colored vector image using the design cycle to brainstorm, trace, color and talk about their tool & color decisions with peers. Because vector-based images are not made up of a specific number of dots, they can be scaled to a larger size and not lose any image quality. If you blow up a raster graphic, it will look blocky, or "pixelated." When you blow up a vector graphic, the edges of each object within the graphic stay smooth and clean. This makes vector graphics ideal for logos, which can be small enough to appear on a business card, but can also be scaled to fill a billboard. REQUIREMENTS: Size: 8.5x11 Medium: Adobe Illustrator CS6 Image trace size: Must be 1000x1000 DPI or More & back/white image to trace. NO GRAY TONES or light lines will trace. Only high resolution images will trace or drawings outlined in Sharpie. VOCABULARY: Show me how to use: black arrow, white arrow, ungroup, trace, expand, shape, pen, gradient, swatches, color picker, stroke & fill tools tools. Difference between vector & raster images. Difference between Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator Positive & Negative shapes (inside & outside trace lines) Start by watching video to learn how to convert and image to VECTOR using Photoshop.

Don't miss the details. How was it made? Can you recreate it using the tools of Adobe Photoshop tools. You should be able to do it if you did all of your tutorials. It is due at the end of class on THURS OCT 14th. Good luck! Recreate the picture below using any and all the tools you know. It should look as close as possible to the original (you made add your personal voice or flare) Look for ovelapping layers, rotating images, changing colors, erasing backgrounds, RASTERIZING LAYERS, Resizing or transforming photos, adding text. DON'T forget about the "secret window" effects in layers. Show me what you know. Craftsmanship counts. I AM GIVING YOU THE STARTING .PSD and the photos needed! Download STARTING DOC below to your desktop on your Mac. It will not work on a chrombook (unless you use PIXLR and create your own doc) Use the picture above to use as a reference! You may look back at past tutorials for help. Watch your time, it is due at the end of class on THURS no matter how much you have done. Quality is better than speed.
