Where is your Head & Your Heart?Think about the world today...where have you been? Where do you want to go? Where will you end up? Is there something standing in the way, keeping you from reaching your dreams. Who or what is going to help you get there? What are the significant things in your life? Have they changed? What makes you happy, sad, mad, angry, scared, safe...and feel loved (or hated). How can your art get people to think about something you are passionate about or feel strongly against. Can you present an issue close to you and make people think without offending those who think the opposite of you. CLO: Students will think of a social issue that means something to them and create an artwork in any medium, that exemplifies student voice. They will use the design cycle to research, brainstorm, create & revise their point of view with written or verbal feedback from peers. Requirements: Social issue Pro/Con Visual Evidence to back it up (cannot be all text) Written statement to accompany the artwork explaining their inspiration and viewpoint Size: Any Medium: Any Issues to think about...Can you tell what the artist is trying to say in each one? Combine a drawing in with a photographTHIS SHOULD BE CREATED AS A SERIES, AT LEAST 3 PHOTOGRAPHS. THE PHOTOGRAPHS CAN WORK INDIVIDUALLY OR BE ASSEMBLED TOGETHER INTO A SERIES. They should be related somehow. CLO: Students will create a drawing and combine it with a photograph they have taken using the design cycle. They will refer back to techniques that they have learned and get written & oral feedback from peers.
This project seems simple but it is not. Think about it. Where is your drawing going to be inserted into your photo or vice versa. It should be a series of 3. You may use color or black & white. Choose what works. They can be photos from past classes. They can also be drawings you have already done. Be creative with your idea. Your series should relate together somehow. It's not really a theme but it can be. Requirements: 3 Photos/drawings Camera/photoshop must be used in some capacity Black & White / Color Size: Will be printed to 8.5x11 (save/scan in as a JPEG) Medium: All Photoshop or Photo/mixed media Typography is the art of arranging, designing and modifying type. Creating a well designed typography poster is no easy task, and takes time and patience. When a poster focuses only on typography as its main element, the designer has to carefully craft his design to make sure that the type is both legible and artistic at the same time. In this amazing compilation, you will see typography posters created by designers from all over the world. CLO: Students will create a poster using the design cycle & tools from Adobe Illustrator, Adobe photoshop, or a combination of mixed media You must include the different style letters (capital & lowercase), punctuation of your lyric. It should not exactly be readable. You may include Bold, Italics, etc. You may ad an image but it cannot be of the artist. Keep the style of the type posters below in mind. Each student will pick a different lyric, Layout is important. This is graphic design project. Space, rules of thirds, balance, alignment, contrast, color, line, shape and all other elements matter. Check out Lyrics.com for song choice. Keep it school appropriate. These will be publicly displayed. Resolution: 150 DPI Artist name MUST be included. Lyrics should not be able to be read line by line. Lyrical Posters InspirationCLO: Students will participate in the creative process by using the appropriate technology or artistic technique and by referencing tutorials for instruction. Students will be able to create a surrealism artwork inspired by cereal boxes or cereal by using principle of design and rules of composition and get support through speaking & listening to teacher and peers. Art Standards: 1,2,3,4 Medium: Cereal box of choice (may use multiples) & the cereal itself (photography) Vocabulary: Elements & principles of art, Rules of composition Project: You will create an original design showcasing rules of composition. Think about how you want to cut your box and rearrange it. Don't forget your Elements & Principles of Design. You may also choose to use the contents of the box to create a surreal landscape to be photographed. Think about your foreground, middle ground & background. Can you make it look realistic? MCA Denver TEEN ART SHOW 2017 SUBMISSION HEY YOU! YES, YOU! The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver’s Teen Program: Failure Lab invites teens currently enrolled in high school to submit 2-D artwork for a juried exhibition at MCA Denver. We are looking for artwork that responds to the theme of Natural Disaster. From personal to political, from literal to figurative,submit one work that fits within this theme. Since you can only submit one piece, send us your best. Artwork will be juried by Failure Lab, and artists selected for inclusion will be notified by Thursday, October 12. Accepted artwork must be dropped off at MCA Denver between October 12 and October 24. Selected artwork will be displayed in the museum as part of a FREE exhibition opening event on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 6-9PM. Artwork will stay on display at the museum from November 3, 2017–January 7, 2018. THE NITTY GRITTY WHAT: Submit 2-D (photography, painting, drawing, prints, etc.) artwork to be displayed in a teen art show at MCA Denver. You can only submit one artwork of your choice. WHEN: Submissions accepted online beginning Monday, September 25, 2017 through Tuesday, October 10, 2017.
